The Mount Dora Lighthouse is located in Mount Dora, Florida and was built in 1887. It was originally constructed to guide steamships navigating Lake Dora through the narrow channel between the lake and the Dora Canal.
In 1923, the lighthouse was decommissioned and its original lens was removed. The structure fell into disrepair and was eventually abandoned.
In 1988, the lighthouse was restored and a new replica lens was installed. Today, it serves as a popular tourist attraction and is one of only a few inland lighthouses in Florida.
Visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse for stunning views of Lake Dora and the surrounding area, while also learning about the rich history of this iconic landmark. #MountDoraLighthouse
